Since Indiana is out of the NCAA tournament, March Madness means the brain needs a rest -- off to The Grapefruit League for some leisure-time learning and development. What you can't experience behind your desk...

Slc_purseThis accommodating young lady carries a purse that looks like a huge baseball pancake. Note the bird, of course. St. Louis fans are the most fashion oriented fans I encountered at Spring Training this year. They have hats, shirts, bags, seat cushions, beverage holders -- all paying tribute to the almighty Cardinals. It's a sea of red on the first base side. Note her pink hat, though -- not a traditional cardinal color. Today your fav gear is like the modern-day Crayola box. This cap must be Cotton Candy.

And sometimes that wonderful hot sun disappears, and you just get drenched.

Right after inning 1, it poured so hard in Lakeland that we ran for the exits -- and out came the Tigers rain ponchos, umbrellas and other waterproof gear (like the game program). People at the ballpark are prepared for anything -- from occasional showers to frequent foul balls.

The TV sports gurus doing their pre-show analysis is just another part of the entertainment, as the grounds crew preps Mets' Tradition Field for a night game.
