It's official. The Super Bowl ad preview blitz is underway. From the Jan. 22 Technology section of the Wall Street Journal, Paul Glader reports:
"General Electric Co. plans a Wizard of Oz theme to tout its smart-grid technologies in a rare 30-second Super Bowl ad on Feb. 1...The company said Thursday that its ad, set to run in the second half of the Super Bowl, features a computer-generated Scarecrow, made of wires and dancing near a power plant, singing "If I Only Had a Brain" from the Wizard of Oz. A voice-over explains the connection to GE's "smart-grid" offerings, which use computer technology to make power grids more efficient." More from Stuart Elliott at the New York Times.
